Sam Shanblott , 82, lifelong resident of
Duluth, died Jan. 15, 2004, while at St. Luke's Hospital.
Sam was born March 1, 1921, in Duluth to Mike and Sara (Kiel) Shanblott
. He was assigned to the Occupational Air Force in Europe (Italy) as a member
of the 99th Bombardment Group, 347th Bombardment Squadron, a veteran B-17 unit
of the 15th Air Force. S-Sgt. Shanblott served as a crew
chief on B-17 during World War II.
On November 2, 1947, Sam marrie Mildred Klayman in Duluth. He and his wife
were foster parents for several children in Duluth. Sam was co-owner of Home
Beautifier for 50 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Temple Israel,
the Arrowhead Builders Assoc., and the National Assoc., of Home Builders. Sam
enjoyed spending time with his family, grandhchildren and great-grandchildren
especially taking his grandchildren on vacation. He also enjoyed gardening.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred in 2003; brothers, Max,
Shaddy, and Bernard Shanblott ; sisters, Doris Sloan and
Gertrude Polishuk and Edith Massey.
He is survived by sons, Edward of Duluth and Arlen (Shirley) of Blaine,
Minn.; grandchildren, Michelle Shanblott , Lisa (Jeremy)
Dickman, and Erin Shanblott ; great-grandchildren, Cameron
and Connor Dickman, Eoin Shanblott and Courtney Connolly.
Funeral Service:1 p.m. TODAY, Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, in Temple Israel. Burial
will be at Tiffereth Cemetery. Arrangements by Johnson-Crawford Funeral &
Cremation Services.

Mildred Shanblott died in her residence
in Duluth, on Saturday.
Mildred was born Dec. 26, 1921, in St. Paul. She was a Navy veteran serving
in World War II.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Sam; sons Edward and Arlen
(Shirley) Shanblott ; granddaughters Michelle and Erin Shanblott
; Lisa (Jeremy) Dickman; great-grandsons Cameron Dickman and Eoin Shanblott
; step-great-granddaughter Courtney Connolly.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday (TODAY) at 1 p.m. in Temple Israel, Duluth. The
family wishes to thank the staff from Nurses that Care & New Hope for
their loving care of Mildred. Arrangements by Johnson-Crawford Funeral
Services, Duluth. 722-1777.
